Customers looking for a decent slice of pizza got so much more this weekend at Roberta’s. In an over the top marking of her last work night, a mystery waitress donned fishnets, black boots and the words “Peace Out” scrawled across her back. And nothing else!
While, this trendy Brooklyn Pizza joint is no stranger to stepping outside the box, this is still a little out there – even for them. Many patrons were, unsurprisingly, shocked! But, some displayed a more typical “jaded New York-er” attitude. Harlem resident, Vicky Oyomba, even went so far as to remark that “we didn’t think it was a big deal. This is New York City, seeing naked people somewhere is normal.” To some folks, this piece of Brooklyn news was hardly news at all.
Apparently, the rest of the staff sported black bobbed wigs to honor the departing coworker, and the manager of Roberta’s seemed to have no problem with the newly established dress code. According to eyewitness accounts, the waitress hugged a few people to say goodbye and then did her own little catwalk around the restaurant.
Now, lest you think this is some hole in the wall sleazy joint, customers will often wait hours for the chance to dine on their artisanal pies with names like “Cheeses Christ” and “Parsnip Enterprise.” In fact, the Clintons entertained VIP’s there in September!
While out there for sure, most customers laughed at the sight and wrote the evening off as “fun… and still a bit shocking.”
